Sketch

Haven't posted in a while. This semester just was too hectic and stressful to maintain anything very well. I did draw a lot though so not a total loss.
I mostly posted any art on my tumblr these past few months.
Anyway..this was a sketch I did a few days ago. Pencil, nothing special..just working at improving on drawing men.

experimenting

I have not posted in a while. Mindlessly tumbling is not my thing...or blogging. It's fun, but I don't get into the habit of it..I usually can't sit still.

Decided i have not done landscape painting in a while...FINALLY found the brush i was looking for in photoshop...I have wayyyy too many personal brushes. It's always fun to try somethnig new...especially because i don't even know what I'm doing in the first place. The original image (very left) turned out to be a very boring subject matter...a tree. yep. I'm so creative.
So, I went ahead a messed around some more with experimenting..symmetrical is my latest gimmick.

Coast

A gloomy coast. Spent 3 hours total on it...Had a few issues..initially I started out too small..so I blew it up and kept working on it. There was a brush with a canvas texture..which usually isn't so largely noticed until you expand your image..so now t looks like I was working on a canvas...not the biggest fan of that because it took away some of the detail and I think made the photo textures look a bit awkward..and I know 3h isn't much, but it's exhausting to go over your entire image over again..it may be photoshop, but that does not make it any easier..I still have no idea why some people ever considered digital painting 'easier'
...I'm happy with it though. A quick environment.

WIP

I suppose this one is taking longer because the pose of the hands was a pain...and after all that effort, quite a bit is covered up by strings/glowy things. And yes, I had known that from the start...but I figured I HAD to get that pose right. Rugged minimal detail clothes for the priestess of fate. I might not make her eyes glowing.

To Battle

Decided I had to keep up with making action poses...this time in an environment. A city in shambles during a war! I've been playing a lot of Skyrim now since I got the DLC. My next image I already planned out will be more futuristic though.

Warrior Elf

..just...keep...drawing...ah. Well, I can't complain. Also have been playing lots of Skyrim and recently got Reckoning from a friend for my birthday!! ..If anyone thinks I have repetitive or annoying with the 'I should draw more' I highly blame my prof for constantly every class saying how we should never stop drawing. I have nightmares if I don't draw D:< . School is traumatizing me subconsciously apparently by the looks of it. ..

...ANYWAY. This is a 4h character drawing. Golden elf warrior....originally, I had a whole colour scheme made up for the outfit, but then conformed to all one colour. It still worked out.

Space

Did an alien theme. Experimenting... Each took 3h.
Had fun. Nothing special.

The Lake Home

More bridges. Well, ths was just originally me testing out new ways to paint foliage and a lake..it looked boring as hell..then I added a tiny bridge in the background...which made it look like a tiny insert of Manet's painting...so I decided to add another bridge....and then a home so the bridges actually lead to somewhere.
Took 3h in total? My arches...I think are still a little off. Will keep at it and get better!

WIP

No full drawrings today..just been too busy to have a chunk of time to get much done..only a WIP.
OMG. lifesaver. I already forgot the person's name on that youtube video ..such a simple way to make perspective lines really fast! Usually my horizon line was just about the most accurate of anything and everything else as you may have guessed was a little ..off...Saves me so much time now when trying to put things in more epic perspective (seeing as I feel like I need to make more interesting ones).

This is just a random lake..so far adding in some bridges...I may add more architecture and change around the colouring..I hate how boring the colours are right now.

Speedy Environment

This is around 45 minutes max. I discovered starting with a green or brown background gets me stuck and uninspired fast. I left it at 30 mins of working on it...then today went back spent 15 minutes because I thought there was still something there to be saved. I do love my valleys. Either way it was just another practice run at creating something from nothing as fast as possible. Efficiency is fun.  

Another WIP finished

posted a WIP of this a while ago...decided to finally finish it. Nothing special. More experimenting. I know I am not a big fan of just doing black and white..in a painterly way. Not so fun.
Maybe I need to draw more characters..I should get to that. I am supposed to be working on a collab with a friend...but I think that's going to be a slow and almost non-existant process. Not that I don't want to draw. I think I'm breaking my own personal record of posting nearly every day and drawing every day.

A side note...I will be reno-ing this blog a little...code gives me a headache now. It used to be easier for me to understand

Quiet Street

Finally done. Well, it took 5h in total..I stalled a little in terms of what else to add though.
Decided to add a car...I still wanted the scene to be in current realm of time..just old architecture.
Subtle subtle tiny hints of blood...Just because it's a pretty scene doesn't mean it's a safe place to stay.

I think I elaborated more on DA post.

Speed painting

Also...finished a speed painting in an hour.
Something moody. evening sun going down on a camp created from a long ago shipwreck. It overlooks a castle in the distance. Ready to be robbed.

Preview...sort of felt like doing some more architecture..but smaller-scale..and maybe better perspective.
Need to work on adding more personality to the quiet street because there is not anything...really going on right now.

More Architecture...

Not sure how long this took anymore..maybe seven hours.
Thought of doing more environment and character combos..this way I could practice integrating the character with an environment..lighting and all. I have proved to not be as great at that as I thought.

Tried some more interesting and warped perspective here just to make the city more grand.
Photo textures always wonderful. Buildings of Venice I took.

Pattern

Pattern I created for fun. Very enjoyable..will add to another images..ALso using it as tumblr background.

Another Man

This one is more based on a character I created..or should I more say written part of some story considering I never really drew him.

I may just post him w/o a background...But, for now...Oh and the background I have pretty much as an entire environment, but i cropped it all out because I got carried away and he focus completely got pulled away from him.

A Man

Well, if anyone follows what I draw...men is one of the things I don't...because I just couldn't get it right for the longest time. I think this is a minor success for the first time. ..Any issues I ended up having were of things I usually can draw/paint, such as hands. I think I just kept messing up the angles, but he was going to have something in his hand anyway.
Also, I'm experimenting with my signature...which I have not done in a really long time. It's like a logo..and logos change...

Almost done...need to up the contrast and....probably fix her expression...Decided to keep this image all b&w..

In-Class

   Theme was 'haunted by a freak' ...was really hard not to draw just some ominous tall shadowy creepy figure hovering over some small kid. Somehow it ended up to be a creepy tree-woman.
   One of the requirements was to have an illustrator component. Not fun...somehow I managed to last-minute think of making some magic circle-thing.

WIP Ice Castle

Working on the background for concept character class....finally I am putting all those photos to Venice to good use. I'll post the other personal WIP which is 90% of my Venice photos remixed together.

Project

Finished my two concepts for a project we had to create characters based on Adventure Time..
I have never seen the characters before and decided not to look so I wouldn't be influenced. This was fun.

Valley of Passage

I guess you could say this is me re-drawing something...and just making it better. Finally done. It did take me a while only because I could not decide how t draw her outfit....picky picky bout my characters. Friend is going to hate me because they are doing an art trade and were given the old version before break. OH WELL.

..Verde is a tough cookie..but doesn't normally wear pretty dresses you can't actually fight in...they're just so much fun to draw. Yep. I'll eventually get to the outfit i envisioned her in..which makes wielding a sword more easier in.
